The world has changed dramatically since early civilizations. Then, resources were limited and could only provide for the immediate area. As the world developed and as technology improved, travel became easier and travel broadened peoples understanding of the world.
Before you start your exploration of China, let's consider this question..
How global is your life?
Today our world is the same size but people move from place to place more quickly and easily. They can now keep in instant contact with people from anywhere in the world.
Think about the following questions.
- Have you travelled overseas?
- Do you have relatives or friends overseas? How do you keep in contact with them?
- Do you keep in touch via phone, instant message, social networking sites, or email? What communication works best for you and why?
- Think about your belongings. Where are they made? If not in Australia, where are they made and why?
- What do you think the term 'Global Village' means.
Tasks
